‘’What if we make the Jamboree a prom theme this year?” …and the rest is history!

You might wonder why we chose an ocean theme at 9,000 feet above sea level. Creede actually has the history to justify it. Millions of years ago, long before the San Juan Mountains towered above us, this area was submerged beneath an ancient sea. Subsequent volcanic activity transformed the region into a massive, salty lake before shaping the rugged canyon walls we enjoy today. Beyond our unique geological history, the evening also serves as a nostalgic nod to Back to the Future’s iconic Enchantment Under the Sea dance.

This annual gathering brings the community together for a lively evening of music, dancing, costumes, and fun for all ages. Admission is by free-will donation, with all proceeds directly supporting the Creede Arts Council’s mission to cultivate the arts in our local community. During the event, the Elks Lodge will provide a cash bar, while the Arts Council will offer complimentary snacks and interactive, ocean-themed crafts for both children and the young at heart.

Musically, this is a fully inclusive, multi-generational event. Trouble Bound Band have curated a playlist that spans from the 1960s to current hits. Guests are highly encouraged to dress up in whatever style makes them feel best, whether that means dusting off 1980s shoulder pads or opting for a modern, elegant pantsuit. To help you find the perfect throwback attire, we recommend searching your closet or browsing local regional thrift shops such as Gently Loved, Rainbow, and Nazarene. A mobile photo booth will be available on-site throughout the evening so you can permanently preserve your prom night memories.

We invite you to make a full weekend out of your visit to Creede. Before dancing the night away, you can take in the crisp autumn air while shopping downtown, grabbing a bite to eat, or stopping by Kip’s Grill during the day to enjoy their Oktoberfest festivities.
