5:30pm to 8pm in the Creede Repertory Theatre lobby

The opening evening of the show was, as always, a great success. These photos were taken just as the event began. By 6:30, when the sale commenced, the place was packed! Lots of wonderful art, food, and people. We were even lucky enough to have 8 of the artists attend. Great times! Thank you to all the artists who submitted prints, thank you to our sponsors, and thank you to all who attended. We hope you enjoy the prints that you purchased as well as the opening evening. The CAC certainly did!

Thanks to all who submitted to the WCJ. Click  2012 WCJ Online to view the online version.

Enjoy!

Release Party 2012

The party was a big success!  It took place on May 17th at the Creede Community Church fellowship hall.

Click here 2012 NSPS Brochure  to view the brochure that will be available at the NSPS opening this coming Saturday, May 26th at 5:30pm at the CRT. In it is the list of prints available.

Two Notes – The brochure is not editable nor printable. And, this is not the catalog that contains a thumbnail for every selected print. The catalog will be available by the end of June. Stay tuned!

The Creede Arts Council has begun planning for our 9th Annual studio tour. This year, it takes place Saturday, September 8th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This is a self-guided driving tour along the Silver Thread Scenic Byway. We are creating the list of participating studios early this year, so we may get the brochure done earlier in the Summer, in order to advertise during our busy season! The CAC is committed to this event as it both supports our many talented local artists and serves to expand the tourist season, which benefits the communities of Creede and South Fork. We actively market the event through brochures, press releases and invitations. We also coordinate signage and community involvement in Creede and South Fork.

Patrons of the studio tour are interested in the complete experience of meeting artists and learning more about how their art is created. To that end, we have modified guidelines to ensure a more interactive event. The artists who participate are asked to enrich the patrons’ experience by doing any or all of the following: opening your studio to the public, giving a demonstration, having a question and answer session, having your work on display for discussion and possible sale. The patrons love to meet the artists. We hope this will help broaden the patron experience and help them develop their love of art and, hopefully, increase the artists’ following!

If you have a studio / gallery and are able to participate as outlined above, please contact us at creedearts@gojade.org or (719) 658-0312, OR click on this link Tour Particpation form 2012 to obtain the entry form.

Note that entries must be received by June 4th

Thank you in advance for your willingness to share your studio and work. We look forward to a successful tour. And, thank you for your continued support of the Creede Arts Council and local art along the Silver Thread Scenic Byway.

The Release Party to commemorate the 2012 Willow Creek Journal and to honor those who contributed to making the journal great, is this Thursday, May 17th, at 5:00 pm at the Creede Community Church Fellowship Hall. Refreshments will be served and the authors published in the journal will read their poems or excerpts from their stories.

Contributors will receive a free contributors copy, and prizes will be distributed for this year’s poetry and short, short story contests. The winners of this year’s poetry contest are as follows:

In the adult poetry category, Jane Morton, a summer Creede resident received the prize for her poem, “Finding Gold.”

The elementary award went to Levi VanRy for his poem “The Ghost Eye Tree.”

In the Short, Short Story category, Trary LaMee received the Award for her story “Phi Beta Kappa.”

The Creede Arts Council requests that those who would like a copy of the journal, who are not contributors, make a donation toward the printing costs. This literary magazine is somewhat expensive to publish, but we are sure you agree that it is well worth it, for it’s beauty and reading pleasure.

The journal will be available at the release party as well as throughout the summer at Creede Arts Council events and in local Creede area businesses, including in any of our wonderful galleries. Stop in for your copy “today”!

For more information or to order a copy of the journal in advance, please contact the Creede Arts Council: 658-0312 or creedearts@gojade.org

NOTE – Contributors who cannot make it to the release party will receive their copy of the journal through the mail.

This is the call for entries for our annual regional juried photography show! The show is typically in August, but we have moved it up to July, our busiest month in Creede, so your photos can be viewed by even more people!
